2-Deoxy-D-glucose is a glucose analog which has the 2-hydroxyl group replaced by hydrogen, and it is not metabolized by glycolysis. 2-Deoxy-D-glucose is synthesized from D-Glucal, so both compounds may be present during the synthesis. HILICpak VG-50 4E, a polymer-based amino column, is used to analyze 2-Deoxy-D-glucose, D-Glucal, and glucose.
