LC/MS Analysis of Metformin (NH2P-40 2D)

High polar compounds, such as metformin (an oral antidiabetic drug in biguanide class) are not retained by reversed-phase chromatography. Instead, HILIC mode is suitable for the analysis of polar compounds. A polymer-based amino column, Asahipak NH2P-40 2D, was used in the LC/MS method. Eluent containing a high acetonitrile ratio provides a high sensitive MS detection.
