Analysis of PFAS Referencing to Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS) (JJ-50 2D)

The Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS) K0450-70-10 states the “Test Method for Perfluorooctanesulfonate (PFOS) and Perfluorooctanoate (PFOA) in Industrial Water and Factory Wastewater” (Established March 22, 2011) includes “Annex JC (Informative): Measurement Conditions for Organic Fluorine Compounds with Different Carbon Chain Lengths”. This annex specifies quantification using chemically bonded silica gel columns or columns with ion-exchange capability, measured by LC/MS. Referring to Annex JC, we analyzed four PFAS compounds dissolved in a water/methanol (1:1) solvent using RSpak JJ-50 2D, a polymer-based multimode column (reversed-phase + anion exchange). Note that the analysis conditions differ in part from those described in Annex JC.
