Deoxynivalenol (DON) and Nivalenol (NIV) are types of trichothecene mycotoxins. Japanese Food Safety Notification No. 0930-1* (September 30, 2021, Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW)) includes “Test Method for Deoxynivalenol in Wheat”, which specifies the use of an octadecylsilyl silica gel column for quantifying deoxynivalenol. In this application, deoxynivalenol was analyzed using a UV absorbance detector in compliance with the method. These conditions also allow simultaneous determination of nivalenol.
