Chlorogenic acid in coffee is a functional food component which is effective in inhibiting blood pressure increase, blood sugar increase, and body fat accumulation. In this application, chlorogenic acid in a commercial regular black coffee and a commercial coffee claimed to be a functional beverage were analyzed using a UHPLC column, C18U 2D. By using the C18U 2D, chlorogenic acid, caffeine, and caffeic acid were simultaneously analyzed under isocratic mode within 10 minutes. A good linear calibration was obtained for the concentration range of 1 to 100 mg/L.
(Sample Preparation)
1) Dilute the coffee 1+4 with water.
2) Filer using a 0.45-µm membrane filter and use it as an injection sample.
