Cyanuric acid is a structural analogue of melamine, and thus sometimes detected as an impurity of melamine. In this application, polymer-based amino column, Asahipak NH2P-40 2D, was used to separate melamine and cyanuric acid using HILIC mode. Hydrophilic compounds are retained at a high concentration acetonitrile under HILIC mode condition. This is advantageous for the high sensitivity analysis by ESI-MS.
