The National Standards of China GB 8538‑2022*, “National Food Safety Standard – Examination Methods for Drinking Natural Mineral Water,” and GB/T 5750.10‑2023*, “Standard Examination Methods for Drinking Water – Part 10: Disinfection By‑product Indicators,” for the determination of bromate specifies the use of an anion chromatography with potassium hydroxide–based or carbonate‑based eluent. In this application, referring to the carbonate‑based eluent method described in the GB standards, bromate and various anions were analyzed using IC SI‑52 4E, a high‑performance anion analysis column. Under Analytical Condition A, the elution order differs partially from that shown in the published chromatograms, for example sulfate elutes between bromide and nitrate; however, the analysis time per run was significantly reduced. Under Analytical Condition B, the elution order is consistent with the published chromatograms, and good separation of bromate and other anions was achieved.
