The National Standards of China GB 5009.8‑2023* “National Food Safety Standard – Determination of Fructose, Glucose, Sucrose, Maltose, and Lactose in Foods” and GB 5009.279‑2016 “National Food Safety Standard – Determination of Xylitol, Sorbitol, Maltitol, and Erythritol in Foods” specify the use of amino columns. In this application, HILICpak VG‑50 4E, a polymer‑based amino column, was used under isocratic elution conditions. As a result, good resolution was achieved among all nine components, namely fructose, sucrose, glucose, maltose, lactose, xylitol, sorbitol, maltitol, and erythritol, confirming that simultaneous analysis is feasible. Both refractive index (RI) and evaporative light‑scattering detection (ELSD) can be used as detectors. When ELSD is employed, set the drift tube temperature at 50 ℃.
Note: The analytical conditions used in this application differ from those specified in the GB.
