Analysis of Dietary Fiber in Foods According to National Standards of China GB 5009.88‑2023 (LB‑802.5)

The National Standards of China GB 5009.88‑2023* “National Food Safety Standard – Determination of Dietary Fiber in Foods” defines “SDFS (soluble dietary fiber that does not precipitate)” as a soluble dietary fiber that does not precipitate on the high‑molecular‑weight side at the boundary between the kestose peak and the maltose peak. For the analysis of SDFS, the method specifies the use of two columns packed with hydrophilic spherical porous polymethacrylate packing material for high‑performance aqueous size exclusion chromatography (SEC) (7.8 mm (I.D.) x 300 mm (length), particle size: 7 µm, pore size: < 20 nm), or columns with equivalent performance. OHpak LB‑802.5, an aqueous SEC column packed with polyhydroxymethyl methacrylate, confirmed the requirement was met.

System suitability requirement Difference between two replicate measurements under repeatability conditions: ≤ 20% of the mean of the two measurements
