Analysis of Xylitol, Sorbitol, Maltitol, and Erythritol in Foods According to National Standards of China GB 5009.279‑2016, Method II (NH2P‑50 4E / VG‑50 4E)

The National Standards of China GB 5009.279‑2016* “National Food Safety Standard – Determination of Xylitol, Sorbitol, Maltitol, and Erythritol in Foods,” Method II specifies the use of an amino column (4.6 mm (I.D.) x 250 mm (length), particle size: 5 μm) or a column with equivalent performance. Using Asahipak NH2P‑50 4E and HILICpak VG‑50 4E, polymer‑based amino columns confirmed the requirements were met. 

System suitability requirements

Limit of detection (LOD):
  Xylitol: 0.01 g/100 g
  Sorbitol: 0.02 g/100 g
  Maltitol: 0.03 g/100 g
  Erythritol: 0.04 g/100 g

Limit of quantitation (LOQ):
  Xylitol: 0.03 g/100 g
  Sorbitol: 0.05 g/100 g
  Maltitol: 0.07 g/100 g
  Erythritol: 0.12 g/100 g
Difference between two replicate measurements under repeatability conditions: ≤ 10% of the mean of the two measurements
