LC/MS Analysis of Sulfamic Acid According to Japanese Testing Methods for Fertilizers (ODP2 HP-2D)

According to Japanese Testing Methods for Fertilizers (2016*), "High-performance liquid chromatography method" under "5.7 Sulfamic acid (amide sulfate)" should be carried out with a column filled with silica gel modified with crosslinked diol or polyhydroxy methacrylate. The method mentions that this analysis is applicable to fertilizers, and ODP2 HP-2D as a suitable column. In this application, sulfamic acid was analyzed using ODP2 HP-2D. The calibration curve for sulfamic acid showed high linearity with a coefficient of determination (R2 = 0.9977), over the concentration range 10 to 600 ng/mL. Although ODP2 HP is normally categorized as a reversed-phase column, because of its relatively polar packing material, it can also provide HILIC mode effects as shown in this data.
