When a sample has both hydrophilic and hydrophobic parts, hydrophobic interaction sometimes exists between the sample and the packing material. To cancel out such hydrophobic interaction and realize SEC, an addition of organic solvent to the eluent is necessary. Specially, with Asahipak GF-510 HQ column, since many kinds of organic solvents can be added to the eluent, the column is useful for SEC analysis with multi-solvent as eluents.
