Analysis of Xylooligosaccharides According to Ingredient Standards for FOSHU (SH1011)

According to the Japanese Ingredient Standards for Foods for Specified Health Uses (FOSHU), the Quantitative Method for “Xylooligosaccharides” specifies the use of a column packed with polystyrene-divinylbenzene cation-exchange resin. In this application, xylooligosaccharides was analyzed using SUGAR SH1011, a column designed for simultaneous analysis of sugars and organic acids. The FOSHU calculates the xylooligosaccharide content as the sum of the peak concentrations of xylobiose and all peaks eluting earlier than xylobiose.
Note: The inner diameter (I.D.) of SH1011 is 8.0 mm, which differs from the 7.8 mm I.D. described in the FOSHU.
