Sugar Analysis in Baijiu Distillers’ Grains (VG-50 4E)

Baijiu is a traditional Chinese distilled spirit produced from grains such as sorghum, rice, and corn, also starchy raw materials such as potatoes. The distillation residue (distillers’ grains) is known to contain a variety of saccharides, including fructose, glucose, sucrose, maltose, as well as xylose and cellobiose. In this application, six types of sugars reported to be present in Baijiu distillers’ grains were analyzed using HILICpak VG-50 4E, a polymer-based amino column. Simultaneous analysis of mentioned six saccharides was achieved.
