Analysis of D-Ribose in According to Japanese and Korean Official Analysis Methods for Food Additives (SC1011)

According to the Quantitative Method for “D-Ribose” listed in the 10th Edition of the Japanese Specifications and Standards for Food Additives (JSFA-X*), a column packed with strong cation resin is used. The method specifies adjusting the flow rate so that the retention time of D-Ribose is approximately 14 minutes. In this application, D-Ribose standard solution was analyzed with SUGAR SC1011, a ligand exchange chromatography analysis column. The analytical conditions described here are also suitable to the quantification of D-ribose listed in the Korean Food Additives Codex (식품첨가물공전), with the SC1011 column specified for use.

Sample preparation according to JSFADissolve 1 g of D-Ribose in 50 mL of water and use it as the standard solution.
