Methylcellulose is a long chain cellulose with ~30 % substitution of the hydroxyl groups as a methyl ether. Methylcellulose of high viscosity is used as a thickener and emulsifier; medium and low viscosity methylcellulose are used as a tablet binder. In this application, methylcellulose of two different viscosities were analyzed using OHpak SB-806M HQ, a column for aqueous SEC column.
